Keep your razor clean + dry

To avoid razor burn, a sharp, clean blade is essential. Aim for eight uses per razor head or replace the blade every three weeks (whichever one comes first). After that, it’s either too dull or has collected too much dust and bacteria. We also recommend storing your razor upright in a cool, dry place and protecting it with a cover between shaves.

Soften your skin + stubble first

One of the best ways to prevent razor burn is to cleanse your face with warm water first. This helps soften your stubble, which reduces the risk of the blade dragging and tugging the skin.

To ensure you’re protecting your skin from dryness every time you shave, use a caring cleanser like our Dove Men+Care Minerals + Sage Body + Face + Shave Bar. Made with ¼ moisturizing cream, it can be lathered up into a shaving foam and cleanses skin without leaving it feeling tight, dry or irritated.

    Shave with care

You’ll want your razor to glide easily over your softened skin. So, shave slowly and carefully, using gentle strokes that go in the direction that your hair is growing. Multi-blade razors are most men’s first choice, but if you have dry, sensitive skin, consider using a razor with fewer blades.

    Cool + moisturize skin

Rinse your face with cold water immediately after your shave to remove debris and close your pores. Finally, moisturize with Dove Men+Care Hydrate+ Face Lotion. It’s non-greasy, fast-absorbing and helps protect against dry skin.
