Get an exfoliator that doesn’t dry out skin

First, you need an exfoliating body wash that doesn’t just smooth your skin – it cares for it by ensuring it doesn’t lose the moisture that helps protect it.

Our dermatologist recommended Dove Men+Care Sea Salt + Citrus Exfoliating Body Wash is the perfect balance of hydration and exfoliation. It contains Micromoisture to keep skin feeling healthy, smooth and hydrated, provides 24-hour continuous skin nourishment, and has a citrus scent that invigorates your routine. All you need to do is lather up and scrub!

    Scrub gently

While we’re on the topic of scrubbing, don’t go too hard – while you want to buff away the top layer of dead skin cells, you don’t want to damage the healthy skin underneath and strip away the moisture that protects it.

For the best results, lather up and massage wet skin in gentle circular motions. And try pairing up our exfoliating body wash with our Dove Men+Care Active Clean Dual-Sided Shower Tool.

Give extra-dry areas a little extra attention

While scrubbing gently is the best policy for most areas of the body, don’t be afraid to give extra dry parts – like your feet, hands, knees and elbows – some extra pressure and attention. But again, try not to scrub too hard!

    Keep the temperature down

The hotter the shower, the more it can strip your skin of its oils and moisture. We recommend turning down the temperature when (and even when you’re not) exfoliating – especially if you’re one of the many guys out there with sensitive skin.

You don’t need to exfoliate every day

Even the gentlest, most hydrating exfoliator can dry out skin if you use it every single day. We recommend exfoliating 2-3 times per week if you want to keep those dead skin cells at bay but keep that hydration locked in.
