Luyanda, Accountant
Growing up in South Africa, Luyanda was desperate to fit in – going to great lengths to change her hair so she could look more like her friends. One day, however, she came to the realisation that she would never fit a standard beauty mould. And she hasn’t looked back since.
Although Luyanda’s confidence now beams for all to see, this hasn’t always been the case. For years, being surrounded by friends with lighter skin and straighter hair pressured Luyanda into emulating a beauty ideal that wasn’t right for her.
Once she noticed her own beautiful features, however, she promised she’d stay true to herself. She got dreadlocks that day and has faced the world with an unstoppable self-confidence almost as beautiful as her natural hair ever since.
