Nature makes a better future possible. That's why we’re committed to scaling regenerative practices across farming and increasing the responsible sourcing of materials – making sure regenerative ingredients go into the products we create.
Intensive farming with heavy machinery and practices like monocropping (where farmers only grow one ingredient) are impacting the land, polluting waterways and causing soil degradation. That's why we work with farmers to support agricultural practices that are delivering positive outcomes in terms of nourishing the soil, increasing biodiversity, improving water quality and climate resilience, capturing carbon, and restoring and regenerating the land.
A key part of our sustainable sourcing policy is our commitment to sustainable and deforestation-free palm. Palm oil is a hugely versatile crop and the most land efficient in comparison to other natural alternatives. The industry also supports the livelihoods of 4.5 million people in Southeast Asia, many of them small independent farmers. Our challenge as a business is to ensure sustainable palm is accessible to everyone, at scale. This requires transformation of the whole industry. With our parent company, Unilever, we have been at the forefront of driving a sustainable palm oil industry as part of our commitment to remove and manage deforestation within our supply chain and respecting, as well as promoting, human rights. By the end of 2021, we sustainably sourced 90% of our core palm oil volumes, with 86% coming from physically certified sources.*

It’s a big ambition, but we are on the journey to 100% sustainable palm oil and committed to championing and investing in a sustainable supply chain so that everyone benefits – and our planet thrives. We are also exploring alternatives to palm oil to diversify our options in the future and investing in wider initiatives, like our partnership with WWF to restore and replant key wildlife corridors in East Malaysia that repair and restore nature in the regions where palm oil is grown.
We’re also working in partnership with the Rimba Collective as part of the Unilever Climate and Nature Fund, a €1 billion commitment enabling investments in projects taking meaningful and decisive action to fight climate change and regenerate nature. Our partnership, to help protect and restore forests’ real beauty, will be operated by local NGOs with established track records of working hand-in-hand with communities and local governments. The Rimba Collective helps project operators and communities to maintain conservation outcomes year after year – so you can trust we’ll stay on track to meet our forest conservation targets.
Let’s start caring for the planet like we care for ourselves.
