At Dove, we're committed to making beauty a source of confidence, not anxiety. That’s why we're a founding partner of the Be Real Campaign – a national movement formed in response to the Reflections on Body Image report from the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Body Image. Together, we are campaigning to change attitudes to body image, put health above appearance, and help all of us be confident in our bodies. We are focusing on three critical areas to make a big difference to Canada's body confidence:
Real education
Ten years ago, we created the Dove Self-Esteem Project to help young people raise their self-esteem and realize their full potential. We continue the work today online, in schools and through youth groups. The Dove Self-Esteem Project has reached more than two million young people in Canada, and together with the Be Real Campaign we hope to reach many more.
Real diversity
In 2004, the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty turned the industry on its head by celebrating real women. We remain committed to making a difference to how young people feel about their bodies. Working with the Be Real Campaign, we continue to champion a broader, more inclusive definition of beauty.
Real health
From launching our ‘Confident Me’ school program to publishing a series of articles called ‘Stop the Fat Talk,' the Dove Self-Esteem Project has been working with teachers, youth leaders, parents and mentors to help young people feel body confident and realize that there's more to life than appearance. We are proud to be a founding partner of the Be Real Campaign.
